5 Game-Changing Ideas I’m Saying No to (and Why It’s the Best Decision)
If I had a magic want, this is what I would do.
A lot of my day is spent telling myself no.
I’m a contradiction. On one hand, I believe anything is possible and that you can achieve whatever you dream. On the other, I believe time is your most valuable resource. If you want to succeed, you have to say no to almost everything and yes to only a select few projects.
Both of these statements can be true.
Today, I’m going to share all the ideas I wish I could execute on, but for now, I’m saying no—or at least, not yet.
LFG. 🔥
1. A Daily Podcast
I’d love to record a daily video podcast. It wouldn’t need much production—just a spoken-word journal of what I’m thinking, working on, and learning.
Think of it like an audio version of my newsletter. Hearing someone’s voice creates a connection that’s hard to replicate with text.
I’d keep it simple: no interviews, no ads, no intros—just me talking and promoting my brands.
Honestly, with more focus and better sleep (my daughter hasn’t slept through the night in months), I could make this happen.
But for now, it’s a no.
2. My Directory Brand
This one is happening, just not yet. I bought the domain (sixfiguredirectories.com), and I know there’s huge potential to build a course and productized service. But it requires a solid week of focus.
Right now, I’m too busy crushing it for my clients. I’ve been building momentum, and the worst thing I could do is distract myself with a new company.
The directory course will come, and I want to do it well. But it’s not my top priority right now.
3. My YouTube Channel
I’m doing okay with YouTube, but consistency is my problem.
This week, I wrote about my plan to focus on building my channel, and I’m committed. I want it to feel authentic, like the rest of my content. I’m bored with the recycled, cookie-cutter videos out there.
The truth? I know I’m selling myself short. My videos get great comments and engagement, and I know people find value in them. If I doubled down, I could build a killer channel in no time.
But I love writing. My daily newsletter is my priority, and if I have to choose, I’ll pick writing every time.
I’ll figure this one out. It bugs me because I know I’m capable, but I’m letting the opportunity slip.
4. A Behavioral Health Newsletter
I started The Census a few months ago. Shân and I built it to nearly 5,000 subscribers, and it felt like it was about to take off. Then I had to stop.
There are some big changes in my life I haven’t shared yet, and they were the main reason I paused The Census. It hurt to put it on hold because it’s such a good idea. The demand is there, the content is solid, and the industry has huge potential.
If I revived The Census, I could:
Broker real estate deals
Host events
Buy or sell treatment centers
Build a healthcare fund
Land clients
Sell my course
The possibilities are endless. But life happens, and for now, it’s on the back burner.
5. A Personal Mastermind / Event
I secretly love meeting people. Every time I go to conferences or business events, I leave feeling inspired.
I dream of hosting retreats or weekend sessions in Denver. Imagine a 3-day event with hiking, snowboarding, great food, and meaningful conversations.
It’d be amazing to do this 2–3 times a year—meeting new people, creating experiences, and engaging with others on a deeper level.
Jules and I talk about it often. With her breathwork business growing, maybe we’ll make it happen someday.
A Man Can Dream
In a perfect world, I’d say yes to all these ideas. But saying yes to them means saying no to:
Family dinners
Date nights with Jules
Muay Thai
Swim practice with the kids
Doing great work for my clients
There’s no free lunch. Everything is a trade-off. And while this list reminds me of the opportunities I’m passing on, I know my focus is my most valuable asset.
I have to protect it at all costs.
Love you guys. Talk to you tomorrow.
