5 Improvements I'm Making in 2019
I'm late to the New Years party. I know.
Fact of the matter is I'm not much of a "resolutions" guy. But I am a goal oriented guy. I don't write down my goal, then it doesn't really exist.
I took some time to reflect at the beginning of the year. 2018 was such a whirlwind. I needed to pause and take a moment to decide what I want, what I am willing to do to get it, and how I will get there.
Here's where I am at.
1. Improving the Daily Blog
I've really gone back and forth in my head about this. I love my daily blog. I love that it goes right to people's inbox's every morning.
From a "tactical" standpoint, it doesn't always align with what people want. Not everyone likes getting emails from me (or anyone) every day.
But some people do. In fact, there is a good percentage of my email list that opens up every single email I write. So what should I do?
After much deliberation, I've decided that it's more valuable to me to write and to teach the people that want to hear from me, rather than try to appeal to the ones that don't.
If you love my message, if you love my outlook about work, business, marketing, relationships and health, then my daily blog is for you. If you're not into that kind of stuff, then it isn't.
I'm okay with that.
2. Taking the Content Up Another Level
I don't necessarily write with "best marketing practices" in mind.
It's not that I don't know how to, it's that I try not to take myself so seriously. Most nights when I sit down to write, I just write what flows. I like it that way.
But if I truly want to turn my blog into a nationwide brand, then I need to be a little more serious with my content. What does this mean?
Images in every article.
More focus towards SEO, interior linking, headers and "user experience."
More content around my core topics. Business, marketing, health, relationships and purposeful living.
Better story telling.
Documenting my journey as an entrepreneur and investor.
This will be a commitment from me. I can't promise that every single article is going to be a world class, 1200 word, perfectly formatted article. But I can promise that you will see some drastic improvements.
3. More Videos
I really love doing video. It's easy, it's fun and I like editing them on my phone.
I even got pretty good at editing vlog type videos on premier pro. It's a ton of fun to add music and transitions and high level production.
People tell me that they enjoy my videos. Just like all other matters of art, most times I doubt myself and I think that no one will really be interested in the videos that I make. At this point, I can truly say that if you aren't interested in my videos, I'm okay with that.
This is going to be a journey of documenting my life. I want to build something that creates a legacy for myself. If I build an archive of written content and video content, I will have proof that I earned everything I got.
4. More Audience Focused Content
Successful blogs and brands provide value.
I think I have a lot to offer people. I think I am a good example of how good life can be if you are willing to live with discipline, focus, work your fucking ass off and go after what you want. I think there are a lot of young men and women who are feeling like they are left wanting, like there has to be something more than waking up, putting on slacks, sitting behind a desk at a cubicle and being another cog in the machine.
I have built this life for myself and I want to use my experience to show others how they can do it too.
I'm not trying to be one of those asshole online personalities that whores themselves out for Facebook likes and attention. I'm trying to have real conversations with people so that together, we may continuously better ourselves.
5. The Opportunities Report
I want to monetize my blog. I want to do it in a way that is genuine, with no ads and people who are willing to pay me because I add value to their lives.
I have already signed up a few monthly paying subscribers for my newsletter and I am very grateful for them. Unfortunately, the newsletter hasn't been very consistent. I apologize about that.
I believe in"starting before you are ready" and that's what I tried to do. But from a strategic standpoint, I didn't quite have my message down pat.
But now I do.
I think the most valuable resource I can provide is insight to opportunity.
I am always looking for another project, or another way to progress or another opportunity to add into my life portfolio.
My newsletter is going to be tailored around opportunities that ANYONE can look into and turn into profitable businesses, careers, non profits, art projects or whatever it is that tickles your fancy.
I plan to sell my membership for $5 a month or $50 for the entire year.
I hope you will sign up for the opportunity report. I promise it is going to be worth every penny and it will always be valuable and worth it.
Let's Do This
I feel more focused and "locked in" than I ever have.
Out of all the mistakes I've made in my entrepreneurial career, I think the biggest mistake has been that I second guess myself and change my mind too much.
For 2019, I will publish a high quality blog post every fucking day and I will stick to this plan. If it doesn't work than it doesn't work, but at least I know I gave it my all.
I truly hope you will join me on my journey.
