9 Pull-ups
As many of you know, my wife and I love to workout each morning.
Since I stopped doing so much cardio, my body weight has increased by more than 20 pounds. I’ve never been “big” in this way before. I was always the skinny runner and I gotta say, it feels good to have muscle and fill out my tee shirts.
But there has been one negative side effect of having all this extra muscle, it’s harder for me to do body weight exercises. My strength hasn’t caught up to my weight.
This is most obvious in my pull-ups. At the beginning of Covid, I weighed 175 pounds and I could do 15 pull-ups in a row. Now, I weigh 193 pounds and a few weeks ago, I really struggled to do 5 pull-ups. That extra 18 pounds makes a huge difference.
I decided to do something about it. My progress has been slow, but significant.
Two weeks ago I did 7 pull-ups. Last week I did 8 pull-ups. This week I did 9 pull-ups and next week, I’m doing 10.
That’s how it works. Small improvements make a big difference.
