Today, I hit a record for podcast downloads.
Out of all the media projects I’ve been a part of, The Copyblogger Podcast has definitely been the most difficult.
Growing a podcast is hard.
If I want to grow a newsletter, I can run ads and ask people to share it with their followers. If I want to grow a blog, I can research keywords and find evergreen topics that will eventually compound on growth.
But with a podcast, there aren’t the same sort of growth hacks. All you can do is keep showing up and keep publishing.
I haven’t found a better way.
What’s cool about the podcast is the relationship you build with your listeners. The voice holds power in a way that the written word doesn’t. When people reach out to me through social media who tell me that they love my podcast, they approach me as thought they know me. In a way, they do know me. They hear my voice and my thoughts and my vulnerability.
I will keep publishing. I will keep going.
Love the Copyblogger pod 🥳
