A Quick Escape To Alma With Juliana 🥰 (Building In Public #3)
Part of learning how to make money is learning how to spend it, and also learning when to step away and recharge.
Good morning. Happy Monday.
This is the third edition of my weekly “Building In Public” series. Each Monday I share with you my wins, losses, and lessons from the previous week.
These lessons are what I’ve learned on my journey to grow my personal holdings company.
Let’s dive in.
Before we start, tomorrow’s newsletter is an in depth interview with Ruben Hassid. Tomorrow’s issue is available for paid subscribers only. Click to button below to become a subscriber.
The price increases to $10 a month or $99 a year on September 1.
1. Jules And I Went Camping For Two Days
As you know, one of my biggest priorities for 2024 has been to “do less and make more.” As I’ve matured as an entrepreneur, I’ve been able to climb the wealth ladder (more on this soon), and as such, I’ve been able to use capital to scale the companies for me.
I’m committed to leaning into this. I don’t want to be one of those guys who makes money by working hard and then never learns to enjoy it.
So, Jules and I packed the Jeep and went to Alma (a tiny little town in Colorado) and hung out in the wilderness to two days.
P.S. - I’m still too much of a city kid to be sleeping in a tent, so I compromised with Jules and we slept in a tiny metal box.
We got to the camp site and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. I thought for sure we were going to have beautiful weather the entire two days.
But it started raining almost immediately. So Jules and I camped out in the tiny little metal box and played UNO. Yes, I beat her over and over again. Also, not sure why my one arm looks twice the size as the other arm?
The next morning, we took the top off the Jeep and ventured out. We did some off-roading, listened to music, and enjoyed the chilly brisk mountain air. We spent the rest of the day hiking and eating smores.
It was a great few days. I loved the silence and the cool air. Although I admit that I was constantly looking around for bears, I did find that being in nature refreshed my spirit and reset a lot of my thinking.
#2 - Knowing When I Should Go Bigger
Stodzy Internet Marketing has been the center point of my entire operation for more than a decade. From the very beginning, we have focused on lead generation for the behavioral health industry. The idea has always been to serve a very small population, and in doing so, we create our reputation.
We have done that.
I think it’s time to expand.
Due to my newsletter and my online following, I am now getting online inquiries from all types of businesses. Some examples are …
protein snack ecommerce shops
health and longevity clinic
regenerative medicine clinics
other small businesses (like contractors, HVAC, and roofers)
It’s a tough choice, because one of my primary philosophies of business has always been to own a niche. We definitely own the behavioral health niche, but it may be time to challenge ourselves and expand our market.
It’s something I am going to meditate on. I will keep you posted.
#3 - New Cuppa Updates
I’m constantly impressed and humbled by the talent, work ethic, and smarts of Chris. He really gets it.
Cuppa is the first SaaS product I’ve ever been a part of. It’s hard for me to see myself investing in digital products in the future, and if I never work in / on another SaaS product, I’m happy and grateful I got to work on this one.
Cuppa is absolutely crushing it.
In Closing
This was a slow week. I am happy I took time to reflect and think. I feel like I have a clear vision and an understanding as to what I am doing, where I am going, and what the future has in store.
I’m constantly battling the hidden desire for world domination with the opposing desire to live a simple minimalist life.
Hopefully, the different sides of me are able to meet in the middle.
Love you guys. Talk to you tomorrow.
Tim
