All The Ways I Can Grow My Podcast
I have a partner who helps edit and promote my podcast. His name is Isaac. You should hire him if you’re interested in starting a podcast of your own.
Anyway, he and I have been brainstorming ways we can accelerate the growth of my pod.
I started writing some of these ideas on a Google doc, and then I figured I might as well publish the ideas in my blog so I can share them with you.
Here we go …
Run ads - I actually don’t think running ads for the podcast specifically is the best option. I think we should run ads to grow the main Copyblogger newsletter, and then promote the podcast as part of the automation and also, as part of the weekly newsletter.
Go harder on social media. This means …
Be much more aggressive in tagging my guests.
Maybe incentivize my guests to share the episodes on their newsletters, if they have one. (I would pay them).
Treat the podcast newsletter more seriously - Even though the main newsletter business is Copyblogger, Copybloggerpod.com also has a newsletter. We send the episodes out via email. I could maybe go harder on growing that email list. This is probably the most effective thing I can do. Similar to how Tim Ferris does it.
Work with influencers - I have no idea how to do this and the term influencers makes me throw up in my mouth. Regardless, if I could get people on Instagram to repost the shorts, I’m sure that would help grow the show.
Start taking advantage of the Copyblogger brand more - As of now, I have promoted everything through my own social media. Maybe I be more mindful of the Copyblogger brand. We have …
30,000 Facebook followers
60,000 Twitter followers
4300 YouTube subscribers
Build a real system for booking great guests - As of right now, I basically DM people on Twitter. I bet if I had a legit outreach system, we would crush it.
Plan the editing better - The production of my show isn’t bad, but I know it can be better. There will always be something to the idea of creating better quality and people will share it amongst themselves.
Okay, that’s all I got. What other ideas do you have?
