For years, I have been trying to build an email list. I have tried so many different tactics and techniques that I have attempted to use and implement. Most of the time, I have had little success.

I have tried...

• using Sumo.com pop ups

• trying to pitch my website as a weekly newsletter

• giving away free ebooks or some kind of bait

• asking nicely

• basically begging and pleading

None of these tactics worked the way I wanted them too (especially not the last one). Finally, I tried a new approach.

I built an online academy that gives away free courses and lesson plans in all different ranges of skill sets and verticals.
