Building Momentum
This will sound like I am complaining, but I have no choice. I need to move forward.
I came home from Philly with a fever. Yesterday, I found a few white spots on the back of my throat. I’m hoping it’s not strep, but I feel terrible.
Last night, I had one of those insane nightmares that only happen when you’re sick. I dreamt of some monster with razer sharp claws ripping my back open while I was running away. Since then, I couldn’t go back to sleep.
That was midnight, as of right now, it’s 5:43. I’ve been pacing around, sitting in front of my computer, complaining to the wall, and feeling sorry for myself.
I need to earn a small win, so I am writing this article in hopes that it gives me the slightest bit of momentum that could propel me to the next task.
Here’s what’s on my list for today.
I need to create separate landing pages for my social media accounts - I am starting to drive a lot of traffic to TimStodz.com and to Copyblogger.com from Twitter and LinkedIn, but I don’t know how many email signups each social media platform is generating. So today, I will create separate landing pages for each platform so I can start to get an accurate account for how effective my social media is.
I need to set up an affiliate account for Copyblogger Academy - I am going to execute on an idea I’m toying with. So many of the students I teach in Copyblogger Academy struggle with product creation. There are so many services that provide “marketing” services for clients, but how come no one ever provides “products services?” Wouldn’t it be easier for writers to go into their journey with a high level product already created for them? To get that started, I need to set up the infrastructure.
Setup Outreach.io - 2022 was about building processes and systems for the operations of my companies, and 2023 is going to be about building processes and systems for the sales of my companies. As of now, I still do all the sales myself. I have an effective lead generation method, but I don’t have an effective lead nurturing or a sophisticated sales method. It’s all very archaic at this point. The challenge for me is going to be finding people who I trust to represent my companies well. It’s time for me to let go of this power. I won’t be able to hit my 2023 revenue goals without a high level sales team.
Set up a process for Dev and Social - My social media manager does giveaways once a month for all the accounts he manages. Every time he needs to do this, it requires me to create a free giveaway (usually an eBook), a landing page, and to create a funnel for the signups. I am always the bottleneck when we wants to create giveaways, and it’s costing me. So I am getting out of the way and introducing these two departments so they can handle it on their own and never have to deal with me.
A recent win - I am happy about a small but important win that I want to share. The Copyblogger Podcast is gaining a lot of momentum. Last month, we had 30,200 downloads. This puts us in the top 1%, which is cool. However, it’s been a struggle to manage all the content. I’ve had to coordinate the …

creating the featured images for YouTube and the website
etc
Last week, I hired a small production company to do all the work for me, and while I was in Philly they managed the first two episodes and it all came together perfectly. It’s a relief to get that off my plate.
Okay. I actually feel better. That’s a solid day worth of accomplishments.
My next step is to head over to my ToDoist account so I can assign all of this to my team. After that, I’m going to shower and hopefully it stays cold out so I can go for a walk.
Thanks for allowing me to complain and empty my fever brain on you this morning.
