I love Alex Hormozi’s definition of strategy:
Strategy is simply how you choose to allocate your resources.
Everyone has limited resources, and we can only do so much with the time we have.
For instance, I want to:
Focus on building my YouTube channel.
Create a course about building directories.
Write a daily long-form newsletter.
But my resources don’t always allow me to do everything I want. Today, for example, I need to:
Write a timeline for the new client I just closed.
Start developing the new location pages for one of my investments.
Finish building my new agency website (more on this tomorrow).
In this case, my strategy involves focusing on laying the foundation for a stronger company in the future. Marketing and product creation are still important, but they aren’t as important as tackling the “boring yet profitable” work right in front of me.
I can afford to prioritize this because much of my sales come through reputation and referrals. However, that doesn’t mean I can ignore content creation and product development altogether.
What you prioritize defines your strategy. It’s as simple as that.
