Doing It My Way
I’m thinking of Casey Neistat..
When he was at the top of the YouTube mountain, there was an entire world of vloggers and YouTubers that created videos just like him. Myself included …
The little I know about making videos and editing, I learned from watching and copying Casey Neistat. I’m sure the same can be said about thousands of other video creators.
I know I’ve been saying this a lot recently, but I’m really going through some sort of transformation right now. I see so much potential ahead of me. I have so much more to give.
The picture of my future is becoming more and more clear. I see what I want to do and I am slowly building the courage and the belief in myself to actually do it.
Naturally, the instinct is to see other people who have done something similar and start imitating them.
But I have been down that road before. It’s a race to the bottom.
I’m not saying I’ve never imitated someone I admire. We are by our very nature mimetic creatures. But I’ve also had the experience of executing on an original idea and seeing how much more valuable that is for my life and my aspirations.
This time around, I know I have to do it my way.
