Doing The Same Things Every Day
Last month, Jules and I did a 5 and 5 challenge. She approached me one day and said “I have a new challenge. We complete 5 tasks every day for 5 weeks.”
We did it. My challenge was …
Wim Hof breathing.
Writing my daily blog.
Ice bath.
Less than two hours a day of phone time on my phone.
Workout every day. (Friday was a rest day)
I felt amazing. By the end of it, I felt like a super hero.
Granted, after the 5 weeks, I was starting to feel a little trapped in my routine, but I was also feeling like a ninja. My mind and my body were so optimized.
Then, we got sick.
No bullshit, it’s taken Jules and I weeks to get back into the routine.
Life is like that. It can take weeks, months, or even years to develop a series of habits that maximize your potential, then it can take a day or two to lose all your progress.
That’s why it’s easier to stay in shape then it is to get in shape. That’s why when people start succeeding, it seems like they succeed at everything.
It’s not that winners are overtly special, although some of them are. Rather it’s that they made winning and progress a habit.
Winners are habitual winners.
On that note, Jules and I are both back on our daily habits.
P.S. - Ice baths hit different in Denver in January.
