I’ve always appreciated Jerry Sienfeld’s concept of “don’t break the chain.”
The idea is simple. For Seinfeld, he knew that he needed to write jokes and work on his craft every day. So each day, he would write jokes for an hour and then put a big X on the calendar for that day.
So you create a chain of X’s on your calendar, and your only goal is to keep the chain going.
I created a short checklist for myself so I can make it mandatory for me to do a few simple things that have exponential value in my life.
Here they are …
Drink water
Read
Go for a walk, in the grass, shoes off
3 rounds of breathe work (I like Wim Hof style, 3 rounds of 30 deep breathes)
Send out my morning tasks to my team on Todoist
Write something and publish it
Cold shower
All of these habits are already a part of my life, but as you know, the consistent action is where we either succeed or not.
Today is day 2. Don’t break the chain.
P.S. - I picked up Jules and the kiddos from the airport last night. I am happy they’re home.
