My daily newsletter is growing. The truth is, it’s always been growing, just not as fast as I would like it to.
The deal I made with myself when I started my substack is that I would write with the understanding that my son will one day want to look back at my life and see what happened. This blog is an archive for him.
Any time I feel like quitting, I always think of my son and the deal I made with him. One day, he will have an entire database full of my life, my ideas, my experiences, and our time together as a family.
The aim is clear. But that doesn’t mean I don’t fall into the trap of more. I’m human, just like everyone else.
I would love to have a million subscribers. I want to be like Seth Godin. He has probably 2 million people that subscribe to his daily blog. He doesn’t need hype or to book interview slots on podcasts to promote his message.
He simply shows up, every day.
Seth grew his blog drop by drop.
That’s how I am trying to grow this.
The thing is … it’s working. I feel like I’m starting a movement. Rather, a rebirth.
Blogging used to be a way to share your experiences with others. Blogs were personal, emotional, and touching.
The trend has been replaced with curation. Newsletters like The Hustle and Morning Brew revitalized the frenzy for newsletters.
But I believe blogging is back. We may not call it blogging anymore, but it’s coming back none the less. People want to share experiences with other people. So curation is being replaces with honestly and vulnerability.
That’s what I’m doing.
My readership is growing. Drop by drop, I am creating a case study that this works.
The page ain't so blank anymore, is it Tim?
