How to Build a Profitable Esports Brand w/ Jared "PiG" Krensel - EP 64
We've all heard the stereotypical version of the "gamer." You know, the lazy kid who lives in his mom's basement drinking Mountain Dew with Dorito flakes on his shirt. But all this is changing. Today, gamer's are quickly becoming the new rock stars of our society. My guest today is Jared Krensel, he goes by his screen name PiG. PiG is one of those gaming rock stars. PiG is a former pro gamer, a streamer, a YouTube personality and a commentator for pro Starcraft 2 tournaments. PiG is living proof that Esports and competitive gaming are creating real business and real entrepreneurial opportunities for anyone who wants to get involved in that industry. PiG and I had an amazing conversation. I got to learn a ton about his story as a gamer and about the evolution of the industry. We also spoke a lot about the business of streaming and what it takes to build a strong personal brand around live streaming and being a pro gamer. What I loved most about this conversation is how PiG shared his insights on life, hard work and what it really takes to succeed. He shared how Starcraft has been one of the most influential and challenging aspects of his life. Gaming has certainly come a long way. In this episode we talk about...
PiG's perspective on what the competitive gaming industry has become in such a short amount of time.
How Starcraft has impacted PiG's (and my own) critical thinking and problem solving skills.
How to be playful and lighthearted in your content when building your online brand. (Don't take yourself so seriously).
How to "steal" other people's styles and combine them to build your own unique identity.
Why creating something for a certain type of person is better than trying to appeal to everyone. "No one writes home about white bread".
Thanks again to PiG for coming on my show. He is without a doubt, my favorite personality on the internet. I love his content and if you are a fan of competitive gaming, I know you will love his content as well. Show Notes Follow PiG on Twitch. Catch his live stream. He streams almost every day.
