I Heard Something Today
When doing hard things, you’re facing two battles.
First, there is the battle of actually doing the hard thing. If your goal is to climb up a summit, you have to actually climb up the summit.
The second battle is the belief. It’s likely that you could climb up the summit, but will you? Will you fully commit to being the type of person who climbs summits? Do you believe that you can? If not, do you believe that you can do it anyway?
Life is a mental game. In my own life, I’ve discovered that I’ve been able to accomplish almost anything I’ve set my mind to. In the areas where I came up short, I also discovered that the process of becoming the type of person who does this certain hard thing is journey worthwhile in itself, regardless of the outcome.
I was listening to a motivational speaker yesterday. He told me …
“Don’t rush the process. Trust the process.”
The process is what it is. We don’t get to decide how fast or how slow we go. We only get to decide whether we show up or not.
I will be repeating this to myself often over the next couple months.
I am embracing the process.
