Juliana Turned 30!
The reason we came out to Seattle / Portland was to celebrate birthdays.
My son turned 1 on March 16 and my wife turned 30 on March 18. Jules is actually a twin, so obviously, her brother turned 30 yesterday as well. Since we knew we were traveling and looking at different places to live, we timed it to be out here during the birthdays, and we convinced Justin and his family to come out here.
For Jules’ birthday, we went hiking in Forest Park. Portland has a lot of dense forests that wrap around the city, so you don’t have to go far to find good hiking.
The forests in the Pacific Northwest look very different than they do in the Northeast. As a kid, all my forests were lined with oak trees and birch trees and slate stone barreling alongside the trails.
Here, the forests are sleepy with moss blanketing the entire line of sight.
They are softer but more massive.
After about a mile or so, we found a sweet little shelf to prop up the camera and take a picture.
From left to right … Kelly (my brother in law’s wife), Justin (my brother in law and my wife’s twin brother), Quinn (their daughter) and of course my wife, me and Julian.
Lastly, we got a picture of the twinsies, carrying their kids and living life.
I’m feeling good. I’m reminded every day how lucky I am to be able to travel, stay at new places, try new food, and go on new adventures with the fam.
Life goes fast. Just the other day, I had my son. Then a few days ago, he turned 1.
I want to enjoy and appreciate these moments as much as I can, which is also why I write in my blog. :)
