Less Goo Eaggless
Tonight, when Jalen Hurts through that bomb to Zaccheaus, I screamed.
I screamed and clapped my hands, the way I always do when The Eagles do something awesome.
Except tonight, the little dude screamed and clapped his hands as well. He looked at me with a huge smile and excitement in his face.
Then he said …
“Yaayyyy Less Goo Eaglesss!!.”
My mind flooded with memories. I can see these moments as though they just happened, as if they’re happening now.
I can still picture my uncle Doug sitting on the edge of the table. He would come over every Sunday, and sit at the same spot exact spot, week after week.
I can still picture my gramps wearing his Akers jersey.
I can hear my mom SCREAMING in the way she does anytime a player on the Eagles takes off down the field or when Dawkins comes out of the tunnel.
I can so vividly picture sitting next to my dad on the couch, eating hoagies and with potato chimps smushed in between the roll, cheering on the birds.
When little dude looked at me and cheered alongside of me, it made so so fucking happy. I can’t even explain it.
Maybe that’s why I love the Eagles so much. Maybe it’s not actually about football.
Maybe it’s about my family and my home.
Go birds.
