I was talking to a friend today.
He was telling me about an experience in the past that he wish he handled differently.
One of the reasons so many of us struggle with the past is because we wish we would have made different choices.
It’s cruel, because the only way to know what you wish you would have done differently, is to do things you regret.
Bad choices prepare you for better choices in the future.
So we’re all just trudging our way through life, making mistakes and learning lessons that will hopefully come in handy one day.
There is no progress without pain. I’m not sure that process ever stops.
The good news is that every once in a while, we do encounter a new experience in which a past mistake gives us a better vantage point.
It’s not all bumps and bruises.
The catch is that you must be brave enough to a different choice the second time around. Most of us stick to the same path as always. We do what’s most familiar. It takes courage to walk a different path, even if that path is softer and easier.
We crave certainty more than we crave joy.
It doesn’t have to be that way. You can make life easier on yourself, if you’re brave enough.
beautifully said, thanks Tim!
