My 2022 Business and Growth Roadmap
I don't make new years resolutions.
Instead of resolutions, I prefer to create a yearly roadmap.
At the beginning of every year, I read Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. It's a book you should read if you are serious about creating a successful life for yourself.
In Think and Grow Rich, the author presents the reader with an exercise. I do this exercise every year as well.
The exercise is simple ...
You write down exactly what you want, when you want it by, and what you're going to do to get it. As such, you read the statement out loud to yourself every morning and every night.
As you read it, you visualize yourself as though you have already have the success you are after. You act as if you already have it. You combine this feeling of faith with a burning desire to meet the goals you have laid forth. Over time, the principle of autosuggestion tricks your brain into acting like the type of person who succeeds.
It's an exercise to take control of your thoughts. This is the secret to success. The following sentence is the most important lesson you can ever learn.
You become what you think of.
I've spent the last 6 days reflecting, thinking, prioritizing, and dreaming. I have outlined exactly what my vision for the next year is and what my goals are.
Here goes.
Copyblogger
Building Copyblogger has been one of the scariest things I've ever done.
When I closed on this deal, I thought I knew more about selling digital products than I did. Most of my success has come in the lead generation space. I've written a few sales letters in the past so I thought I was prepared.
I was not. Looking back, I was a complete beginner diving in head first into one of the biggest and most respected brands on the internet.
Since the start of my journey with Copyblogger, we have signed up 1283 paying customers. Some of these members pay yearly, and some pay monthly. Let's average it out and assume each customer pays $39 a month.
Currently at 1283 customers, that would be $50,037 a month.
That's pretty damn good considering 2021 was the first full year that I was fully in charge.
There's a lot more room to grow.
By December of 2022 Copyblogger will be generating $160,000 a month in revenue. I will hit these numbers by continuing to build the greatest product possible which will help new entrepreneurs build great businesses through online writing and content marketing.
YourBoulder
I am really interested in local media. The destruction of local news has created a void. People want local news, events, and community. Social media has created a vacuum.
There is a huge opportunity in this vacuum.
Everyone lives somewhere, and everyone wants to be connected to their community. There is going to be a rebirth of local media, and I am going to build a great business in this space.
We have to re imagine what local media will look like. The days of newspaper blogs and cluttered ads are gone.
There are so many ways to monetize a local media site, and it doesn't require a lot of upstart capital. Last year I wrote a thread on the entire roadmap and I plan to share my journey as well.
In addition, I wrote a great guide to help anyone who wants to build a local media business. Now it's time to execute.
The goal is two fold...
We are going to continue generating traffic to YourBoulder.com and monetize a free newsletter.
We are going to offer a paid newsletter which will offer an in depth list of all the events, happy hours, deals, shows, and drink specials for the weekend.
We will have 1000 paid subscribers by the end of the year. At $10 a month, the goal is to generate $10,000 a month in revenue.
TimStodz.com
This is the year I turn my blog into a business.
I'm not sure what I will offer as a product, but I want it to be simple. I'm thinking about offering ...
high level coaching
high paying consulting
maybe I'll use TimStodz.com as a lead gen for Digital Commerce.
write and sell a book
This is the year I really start putting myself out there.
I've kept my writing very private for years. In December, I read Show Your Work by Austin Kleon and it totally changed my perception on what it means to market myself.
I want to be generating $10,000 a month in revenue for TimStodz.com
What do you think of my roadmap? Have you created a roadmap for yourself? If so, what is it?
