I’ve been battling with an internal dilemma.
I love to write every day. I also love to make money.
Last year, I wrote a blog post every day. It was a great experience. However, as business building strategy, it isn’t as effective as taking the time to write long form content that will better index in search and will solve a problem.
When I was writing every day, I found myself writing about anything and everything. Life, work, relationships, hiking with my wife, or even crazy experiences I had. There wasn’t a lot of rhyme or reason behind it. It was freeing, but it was random.
So at the beginning of this year, I decided to quit day blogging and start building my website as a more cohesive business. I’m glad I made the choice. It has paid off for me and I see more success in my future.
However, I am also sad that I am not writing as much.
For me, writing is an expression of self and a way to clear my thoughts and a way for me to more effectively communicate.
I’ve been thinking about it a lot and so finally, I said fuck it… why can’t I do both?
Starting today, I will resume writing every day. I am not going to tell anyone about it. I am not going to promote it or use my writing as a way to “grow my brand.”
I’m just going to write and see what happens.
