Only Good Things Comes from Building a Personal Brand
It's difficult to use the word "opportunity" at a time like this. It's looking more and more like lots of people are going to be in a world of hurt due to the virus.
But I can't help but wonder about the good that will come out of this crisis. I think this experience is telling us all how important it is to have a solid foundation in our lives.
I'm already getting inquiries on Twitter and LinkedIn from people looking into starting their own online businesses or develop their own personal brands.
My father would always tell me that...
"no one is coming to save you"
It was his way of preparing me for the realities of the world.
The realities are that you need to always be in a position where you can take care of yourself. A personal brand provides you with the tools needed to be completely self-dependant.
I'm fully committed to using this time to help people build their own personal brands or develop their own online presence. In our world, it is the most proven and valuable asset you can own because it gives you control over your circumstances.
When I talk about this, a lot of people think I am speaking specifically to entrepreneurs, but I'm not. I'm talking to everyone. Establishing a personal brand can only bring good things to your life, regardless of your profession or career path.
The common mistake people make is that they think a personal brand is about likes and shares and selfies. It's not. Establishing an audience is obviously part of building a brand, but there's more to it than that.
Your brand is the way you make people feel.
What are you feeling right now? Are you inspired? Challenged? Intimidated? Do you think I'm full of shit? Do you see a better future?
That's my brand.
What's yours?
You can use this trust and emotional to solidify yourself in the workplace. Your authority will become an asset that you can take with you from place to place. It will protect you in times of need and it will give you leverage over life's circumstances.
Your personal brand is your strongest asset.
Stay focused. Keep providing value. Keep serving the world, and good things will happen.
