The Best Live Performance Of All Time
The Little Man loves music.
Tonight, I was educating him on great music. Somehow, the live performance of Tennessee Whiskey at Austin City Limits showed up in my recommended videos on YouTube.
It’s an incredible performance. I always get the chills.
After this video, I told Julian that if he was going to appreciate a performance, then I needed to show him the greatest live performance in history.
Here’s the story.
It’s Miami in an outside venue. The forecast is for rain. In Miami, the raindrops are big heavy.
The two dancers are twins. They insist on wearing their four inch heels and the stage is made of a slick polyester that could easily cause them to slip. The crew is anxious and nervous, yet Prince and his team are cool and collected.
Prince just goes out there, in the biggest stage in the world, and casually crushes this performance and cashes in on what is (in my view) the best live performance of all time.
His custom guitar is singing. He’s flawlessly giving a once in a lifetime guitar solo for purple rain, in a rainstorm, in the damn Super Bowl Halftime Show.
There’s no stupid gimmicks. No running through the crowd. There’s no twerking.
It’s just an artist, his band, a mic, and a guitar that is divine.
It gives me goosebumps every time I watch.
I hope Julian learns to love it too.
Love you guys. Merry Christmas.
