The Best Part Of The Walk
I take Bear (her name is actually Alice, but we call her Bear) for a walk in the afternoons. We walk buy a school and all the kids are at recess and line up at the fence to see her.
She loves it.
About a month ago, during our walk, I caught the most beautiful aroma I think I’ve ever smelled. It stopped me in my tracks. My first thought was that there was a woman around with the most amazing perfume I’ve ever smelled, but I quickly realized that the scent was coming from these trees.
These trees bloomed early and they gave us a gift.
Each afternoon, as I walk under this canopy, I take a moment and inhale the air. I put my face right up against a flower that hangs low, and I breathe in.
Life has been heavy this week. When I approached the trees this afternoon, I looked up and they made me smile. It was a quick reminder that you can always find something beautiful. All you have to do is lift your head up.
