This Calls for a Celebration

Here's the story.

My marketing agency builds websites and builds marketing campaigns for businesses that help people with addiction and mental health problems. We work with addiction treatment centers. I am very passionate about helping people who struggle with addiction and I love what I do every day.

It's great to be able to do work that I feel good about. But I still have a business to run and like any business, I need to bring in clients.

One of the ways I market and grow my business is through SEO. This means that I build my website in a particular way that makes it easy for me to be found on Google. When people search things, I want my website to be the very first search result.

SEO is really hard and expensive and it is not the kind of work that delivers instant results. But if you have the stomach for it, the payoff can be life changing

Over time, we have been able to grow our traffic by almost 400% by owning most of the important keywords. But there has been one keyword that I could not win. The keyword is "addiction treatment marketing." When someone searches that phrase in Google, I want to be the first search result.

This is the most valuable keyword there is. It's the one that matters most. My competition is good and I seemed to always get stuck at position 3 or 4 or 5.

I am a stubborn ass and one of my personality traits is that I don't quit, sometimes even when I should. I have been obsessing over getting Stodzy to rank number 1 for the keyword "addiction treatment marketing" for more than 3 years.

This keyword has so much value. Being number 1 for this keyword makes Stodzy the most authoritative company in the entire country. It also brings in the most web traffic and will land me the most clients.

Yesterday, it happened.

A quick note - the government mandated that SAMSHA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) be at the top of search results for any and all search terms relating to drug rehab or addiction treatment.

You can see that Stodzy is #1. FUCK YEAH! AAARRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!

I have been on such a high since yesterday.

I can't even explain to you how hard this was.

I want to win. This is an important victory for me and my team and it really is one for the good guys.
