Too Stupid To Live
Last night, I finished re-reading one of my favorite books.
Actually, I’ve read the book before, but I read the graphic novel version of it. The book is called ‘The Graveyard Book”, written by Neil Gaiman.
The ending is pristine.
More or less, the book is about a boy who is raised by ghosts in a graveyard. Throughout the course of the book, the main character (his name is Bod - short for Nobody) grows up.
Ghosts are not alive, but Bod is. The children ghosts that Bod played with as a boy, stay children. Existence stays still for ghosts, but it does not stay still for people.
By the end of the book he is ready to live, but he’s afraid. Liza Hempstock (Bod’s ghost crush) tells him that she will miss him and tells him that he’s too stupid to live.
Every time I read it, I’m reminded that life can only be lived actively. If not, life will pass you by.
In that spirit, I decided to go to a Hozier concert tonight at The Red Rocks.
Jules couldn’t come became she has homework.
I also have a business called with someone in Thailand tomorrow at 5 am mountain time.
But I have to go.
I love Hozier.
I may never get a chance to see him live again, especially not at Red Rocks.
I don’t want to be too stupid to live.
