Okay. I’m doing it. Let’s talk about Gaza.
Here goes.
Invading Gaza is a complete waste of time, resources, lives, and good standing. This is stupid. How has no one come out and said how stupid it is? We’re all just watching from afar and letting it happen because “that’s what people do.”
It’s easy to sit behind a keyboard and say that I think invading Gaza is a waste of time. I get it. I’m no martyr. Nor am I an apologist, pacifist, war monger, or hero. I’m an American. I remember full well the day of 9/11. I was home sick from school. I was puking in a cooking pot all day. My father woke me up from bed. I was sleepy and confused.
I remember the tower falling and my father putting his hands on the top of his head and screaming “OOOHHHH SHIIIIIITTT!!”
I remember the next day, all my neighbors had congregated on one of our neighbors front porch. Everyone was very ramped up, ready to defend themselves, ready to fight.
Who could blame them? We had just been attacked. Not just attacked, but blindsided. Snuck up on. Stabbed in a dark alley and humiliated in front of the world.
Who could blame Israel for WANTING to invade this little strip of land?
Those types of attacks are designed to invoke rage. That’s all they do. It’s all they are meant to do, and it’s extremally effective. People do stupid things when they’re angry.
So I’ll say it. Invading Gaza is stupid. Who is going to win?
Certainly not the Israelis.
You think they are going to march through a city of 2,000,000 people and smoke out a group of about 100,000 Hamas members (who are not in uniform) and remove them? That’s ridiculous. Everyone knows it’s impossible. Israel will be worse off then when they started.
The entire U.S. military couldn’t do that. All that will happen is Israelis will lose young men, and they will butcher innocent people in the crossfire. Will they break up Hamas? Idk … maybe. It’s tough to say. Hamas isn’t really an organization. It’s more like an idea. Fighting Hamas is like fighting mosquitos. There’s nothing for them to win. There’s no “victory.” There’s only more mosquitos. The only way to actually kill every mosquito is to kill everything else.
So who wins?
Hamas?
Definitely not. There’s nothing for them to win. That’s the whole point. For them, death is an easy sacrifice if it means the take down of the Israeli state of the Israeli people. That’s a huge over simplification, but none the less.
So who wins?
How difficult would it be for a leader to stand up and say “you know how we win? We continue forward.”
The victory for Israel is normalized relations with Saudi Arabia.
For Jews to normalize (and create free trade) with Suni Muslims. That is actually victory. That’s the game.
But how do you tell that to people who are heartbroken, and nationalist, and filled with rage?
So we will kill each other instead.
We will kill each other over scraps of metal and broken concrete and not get anything out of it.
So fucking stupid.
