What Are You Sorry For?

I went out to dinner tonight with a new friend. (I made a friend... yayy)

Towards the end of dinner, I stood up to go to the bathroom. As I was walking down the aisle, a waitress and I were approaching each other. She had a huge tray full of food.

As we got close, I stepped to the side to allow her to pass. She gave me a smirk and as she passed me she said... sorry.

For what? What are you sorry for? Did you do something wrong?

It really bothers me when people say sorry for things that don't require an apology.

You have just as much of a right to exist as I do. At this moment, we just so happen to be existing within 5 feet of each other. That doesn't require a "sorry."

You mean something. You are just as valuable and beautiful as anyone else. Don't ever apologize for being where you are.
