Yesterday Was a Great Day
Yesterday was the first time in what felt like decades that Jules and I were able to take some time for ourselves.
We hit The Maxwell Falls trail, and it was perfect. We hired a babysitter and we left the Monkey man and the little Hippo at home.
The weather is amazing. The trail itself was great as well. The incline was pretty reasonable but still challenging enough to make it worth it. We did six miles.
When Jules and I first met, she used to take me hiking everywhere. I’ve never been a hiker in the same way she was. I grew up in Philly and there is a giant park in the northwest of the city called Fairmount Park, so I spent my childhood walking trails and running through the woods. But Jules showed me what real hiking was about.
She might as well call herself a mountain climber.
The more trails she showed me, the more I began to love the quiet of the mountains and the peace you find in the isolation.
I spend so much time actively thinking that I never allow space for my mind to exist passively. Yesterday on the trails, I let me thoughts think what they wanted to think and not force any change or judge myself or make decisions.
I simply let the thoughts come in and then go out.
By the end of the six miles, Jules and I both felt completely rejuvenated and clear headed and grateful and full.
I’m happy. Life is good.
