"You Have A Piece Of Rusty Metal In Your Eye"
About a year and a half ago, I suddenly started having intense pain in my eye. My wife and I looked in my eye for more than an hour, trying to see if there was something stuck in it. We couldn’t find anything.
Since then, I’ve had this irritation and bloodshotedness (is that a word) right in the inside of my eye, sort of circling the inside quarter of my iris.
It has been super annoying. I’m constantly putting eye drops in my eye, thinking that maybe I’m just getting old lol.
A few days ago, the shooting intense pain came back. It’s annoying af. I have been able to basically live with it but this went to a new level.
Of course, I couldn’t fall asleep because I’m imagining that I have a brain tumor or a pressure build up behind my skull and I’m obviously dying.
I went to the eye doctor. I didn’t expect much because I told the eye doctor in Nashville about it when I got my new glasses. She didn’t see anything and she didn’t seem concerned.
But this time the doctor put a dye in my eye.
I’m staring into this bright light and she says “hahahahahaha you have a piece of rusty metal inside your eye.” (Yes, she actually laughed about it.)
I said “whoah whoah. What did you just say? I have a piece of metal in my eye?”
She was pretty funny. She smiled and said “yeah, can I take a picture?”
Suddenly the whole office took turns being 4 inches away from my face looking inside a microscope. It was funny but kind of freaky.
She did a quick minor procedure to remove the metal and I’ll be fine. She said there’s still a piece of microscopic metal that she couldn’t get. She said it would probably heal over but when I go back today she will try to remove it.
Check it out.
